A Tale of Ten Pieces: Coffee Table Turned TV Table

Welcome!

This is the first draft and version of our 'furniture reconditioning' blog. My wife Lela and I have recently rediscovered the satisfaction and yes, the excitement of finding a piece of furniture someone else has given up, getting an inspiration for that piece, and making it happen. In the early years of our courtship (yep, I just used the word courtship) and marriage, we refurbished quite a number of pieces, but with kids and a busy life, we got away, far away, from our beloved hobby. Flash forward to autumn of 2010, and I suddenly find myself between jobs. And having become faithful followers of terrific blogs like Stories of A House, Twice Lovely Furniture and others, we decided to get back to our hobby and treat it like a job, a job we really love. So we are regular, almost daily, visitors to several local Goodwill stores, garage sales, Craigslist and an occasional visit to Savers. It's always interesting to see what you find. Sometimes we shake our heads at the items other folks have cast aside, and of course many other times we fully understand why they were discarded. But it's a rush when you stumble across a piece that jumps up and grabs you. Right now we have about a dozen project pieces that are at varying stages. Our intent is to post and track ten pieces at a time and to establish a Hall of Fame of our ten favorite projects at a given time. We will post before and after pictures and in-process pics when appropriate. It should be fun. We always welcome your comments and feedback, and we hope you will come with us on this journey.
